Selling or Valuing a Pwerle or DACOU Artwork

Pwerle Gallery offers consignment and valuation services exclusively for artworks that have passed through our family's hands - pieces originally sold through Pwerle Gallery or our predecessor, DACOU (Dreaming Art Centre of Utopia).

Why exclusively our own stock?

Provenance is everything in Aboriginal art. Because we represent our own family of artists directly, we can speak to the authenticity, history and story of a Pwerle or DACOU piece with a certainty no outside party can offer. We don't value or consign artwork outside our own family's history - only what has genuinely come through our hands.

CONSIGNMENT

Consignment means selling your artwork through us, rather than privately yourself. If you own a Pwerle or DACOU piece and are considering selling, we list it for sale on your behalf through the gallery using our reputation, networks and existing collector base to help find the right buyer, while you remain the owner until it sells.

How it works?

1. Get in touch - send us the artwork's details (see below)
2. We review and confirm provenance against our own records
3. Where suitable, we list the piece for sale through the gallery, with terms agreed upfront between us
4. Once sold, proceeds are paid to you, less an agreed consignment fee

This service is available only for works originally sold through Pwerle Gallery or DACOU.

VALUATIONS

A valuation is our written assessment of what a Pwerle or DACOU artwork is currently worth, based on the artist, its history, condition and today's market - useful for insurance, estate planning, resale or simply understanding what you own.

We provide valuations exclusively for Pwerle Gallery and DACOU stock, artworks with a documented history through our family.

To request a valuation, please send us:

- Artist's name
- Dreaming / artwork title
- Size (dimensions)
- Year painted
- Purchase price, if known
- A photo of the certificate of authenticity (if you have one)
- Any other documentation - receipts, exhibition history, previous valuations

Once we've reviewed these details against our own records, we'll come back to you with a formal valuation.

We do not provide valuations for artworks outside our own family's history.
